Narrow Band Emergency Message System
The Narrow Band Emergency Message System or NBEMS is a digital system in which Emcomm operators may pass traffic or messages utilizing sound card-based computers and VHF, UHF and HF radios.
Presently Berks County ARES/ACS is experimenting with NBEMS to evaluate its usefulness with Emcomm. We need volunteers to help us evaluate NBEMS for Berks County and other surrounding counties in EPA.
To volunteer to participate in NBEMS Trials, please contact Ed, WA3WSJ at: wa3wsj at arrl.net
To participate in using NBEMS here in EPA and WPA all you will need is a computer with a sound card and a VHF, UHF or HF radio. All the software is free and you might also need some sort of cheap interface from the sound card to your radio - that's all!
